MACEDONIA SEVENTEENTH STREET BAPTIST CHURCH WAS FOUNDED AND ORGANIED IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD, MAY 15 ,1885 IN THE HOME OF BROTHER JOHN BURNS. WITH SIX MEMBERS,  THE CHURCH WAS LATER MOVED TO 17TH STREET BETWEEN 9TH AND 10TH AVENUE NORTH IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA.
THE CHURCH CALLED REV,. J. R. MATTHEWS.
HE WOULD BE THE FIRST OF ONLY FOUR 
PASTORS IN THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH.

ON DECEMBER 12, 1965, THE REV. A.D. BLACKMON,  WHO REPLACED THE AILING REV 
O.J. JACKSON,  LED THE CHURCH TO ITS PRESENT LOCATION AT 13TH AVENUE.  PASTOR BLACKMON LED THE MEMBERS UNTIL HIS PASSING IN 1995.

THE CHURCH  MEMBERS FOUND THE NEXT
PASTOR TO LEAD THEM INTO THE NEW
MILLENIUM IN APRIL OF 1996. PASTOR THOMAS E. HUNTER NOW LEADS THE CHURCH WITH INNOVATIVE GOALS AND IDEALS THAT ARE PLEASING TO GOD.
